The Coefficient of Friction Tester has been manufactured to determine the static and kinetic friction of plastic film, sheeting, paper and other sheeted material. The coefficient of friction (COF) is a number which represents the friction between two surfaces.

The Coefficient of Friction Tester can measure Static COF from a resting position and continue to move testing surfaces in a relative motion to give an accurate kinetic COF result. It employs a stationary sled with a moving plane. With the option of a computer software package to record data, the IDM COF Tester has proven itself to be a fast, reliable and accurate method of determining friction in various areas of manufacturing.

The software features include dynamic real-time display, statistical analysis, averaging of test results, print out and ability to save test results, all with the ease of use. It is manufactured with relevance to ASTM D1894, TAPPI 549 and ISO 8295 test standards.

The instrument is also capable of test read-outs from the force gauge unit installed on the instrument, with readouts in selectable units including kg, lb or N. With a running speed of 150 ± 15 mm/min, the IDM COF tester has proven to be a reliable instrument used across many industries.
