The Cornell Type Tester has been designed and manufactured to conform to the standard Cornell test method for evaluation of firmness retention and surface deformation of bedding innersprings and foundations.
The Cornell Type Tester is used to test the long term capacity of boxspring, innerspring and foam mattresses to resist cyclic loading. Several different test methods are used for mattress testing, conforming to ASTM F1566 and AIMA standards testing for firmness, firmness retention, durability and effect of impact.
The duration of the cyclic testing will take nearly 10.5 hours, simulating 10 years of mattress use. An operator prompting computer software program designed by IDM Instruments measures both the load and ram head position from the two transducers throughout the total test stages, and produces a full test report upon completion.
