The Flexible Modules tester is used to determine the flexural properties of reinforced and non-reinforced plastics, including high-modulus composites and electrical insulating materials in the form of rectangular bars moulded directly or cut from sheets, plates, or moulded shapes.

These tests are generally applicable to rigid and semi rigid materials. However, flexural strength cannot be determined for those materials that do not break or do not fail in the outer fibres.
