Model: PDA.C02

The Penetration Dynamics Analyzer is an ultrasonic tester used for the measurement of surface and internal properties of paper and board in order to predict the behaviour in the converting process. It determines the effect of surface sizing and porosity on penetration of fountain solution or oil in the offset process of printability.

In a test, a paper sample is contacted with liquid. Once a contact is detected, a low-energy high-frequency ultrasound is transmitted through the sample in a Z-direction. The ultrasonic signals once received are processed on the PDA.C 02, and data is transmitted to the PC software program and displayed as an intensity – time – diagram.
