This well proven instrument was designed to measure the strength of the adhesion of stuck-on soles at the toe and heel in the shoe factory, but is equally useful in the laboratory. 

A steel plate is used as a cantilever to pull the sole of the footwear away from the upper.  The maximum force reading of the dial indicator is 100kg.
